Hi,
We are in the process of putting together an extended FAQ for the 3ds Max plugin. We are currently working with all third-party plugin developers to unify all documentation under a single standard. Solutions from the forum (like this one) will be collated into this FAQ.
Backplate Image

Sorry to bring up an older thread but it's about the only one I could find on the topic. I followed the instructions here and this seems to only work in the OctaneRender viewport. The actual rendered output image still saves with a black background, not with the backplate.
Is there a way to have it actually save a rendered image as it appears in the OctaneRender viewport (scene lit by HDR but on a photo backplate)?
I see the new backplate, reflections, refractions options in the texture environment map & similar options on the Octane daylight. However all that seems to apply spherical mapping instead of the screen mapping I'm needing for this.
Hopefully I'm just overlooking something obvious.
Thanks!

Any update on this?
I'm running into the same issue as Jeffpatton, and it seems like a practical request. The framebuffer does not save out the background image. Also, I have an issue which would prevent manual compositing, in that pre-multiplied edges are using the environment as the background color, rather than the backplate image. This results in artifacts.
