Hi,
Region Render is working, its just a bit tricky.
You need to make sure that the camera you are rendering has the option "Use Pick Focus Region" disabled,
else Maya focuses the camera and does not render the region.

ORBX import is not planned for the near future, since priorities lie with implementing 3.0 features and the ORBX format does not include all the information needed for Maya.
It is designed more for export from Maya etc. and import into standalone.
