It's funny because all of you talking about render speed probably missed this:
but it probably got noise free much earlier than that.
I don't know when the image was ready, all I know was that I aborted it after 4 hours :-) We're all octaner's here, we all know that it's fast :D

Anyway, as for the foam that's actualy just a simple texture with displacement. I've actually made a simple breakdown of this scene on my faceobok page, check it out:
