There is no measurable performance decrease. Try for yourself :) Assuming you have RAM to spare.

With that scene I could see how it would chew up a TON of DS ram, which might mean you are cutting it close. Do you know how much system ram DS needed?

Also you could export it to the standalone to render and you would free up a ton of ram. I've had scenes in DS need about 12 Gigs of system ram, but in the standalone I swear they used 2gb or less. Which left me with 10 more gigs to put into OOC :) I didn't need that much though, just an example.

To render in standalone isn't to tough, but if you really want to avoid it you could also try exporting an ORBX file. Then importing that in DS. I bet it would lower ram usage because all the morphs and stuff would be gone. You couldn't change poses at that point but it would get rid of a lot of the stuff that eats up memory.
