Heheh. Well let me share a little secret with you. Some years ago at a full time job, I was sketching a car. It was awful, and I said out load, "Jesus Tom, your a great illustrator but a lousy car designer!". (Don't tell anybody :) )

I would say maybe 10% of my car designs are worthy of more work, with a few of those really nice. To me anyway.

This one seems to be doing all right.

Dash with flat panel e-paper-like display, added. The display could, in theory have any background color, so that it could just look like the dash itself had all the controls printed on it, but all moveable and hideable like a computer OS can do. So there is no need for mechanical controls for things like headlights, radio, etc. That means the same panel can also display a movie on the passenger side.

Am getting really tired of the orange coloring now, but will wait until texture time to choose the final color scheme. Almost there.

Once again...the seats are not mine. Just a mesh I pulled off the internet, because I did not want to do them from scratch. Especially since if I ever built this thing (yah, riiiiiight!), I would have just gone with available custom seats anyway, not to mention an existing frame. But I sure love the seat design.

Lights completed and rear brushed metal panel, as well as trunk backwall. Just need to add back area shelf and forgot to do the wheel rims. Not sure if I will do an electric version of this, or an IC engine. If IC, the exhaust pipes need to be put in the back. If electric, that area for the pipes will be filled in with a black plastic cover.

Then comes my least favorite task...UV time. Should go pretty quick though since all the textures are very basic. The tires are the most complex set of maps and they are already completed.

Have decided to call the car, the "Delta-V", which is engineering talk for "change of velocity".

The car can be a two- or four-seater. In the two-seater version, the back of what would be the seats is replaced by a thin wall which separates the trunk from the cab. If two-seater, and electric, the space taken up by the two back seats' bottom cushions can be filled with extra batteries for extended range, with those two compartments sealed off from the cab and vented to the outdoor air.

Final cheezy render images. All modeling is complete except for some minor things. Now its UV time.

First Octane test image for car. Unfortunately, this HDRI did not have any backplane images along with it, so I had to downres the final result so the car looked like it matched the loresness of the background.

I am working with a nightime HDRI which does have backplates, so that should be a lot better quality.

I keep forgetting to do this...I need to give credit to the guy who built (designed?) the great car seats. The model was built by Tom Van Ryn and uploaded to Grabcad.com:

https://grabcad.com/library/performance ... with-rails

Like many (or most) downloadable files, this one required some work to get it into Creo. He offers many formats. Only the IGES version worked for me and I still needed to do significant repair work to it so that it would output to obj correctly. But if you are using any of the programs that he exported for, I would imagine things might go a lot easier, things being native and all. Maybe even seamlessly.
