have a look to this old discussion about macpro and how to have some nvidia cards in it, maybe you can find the best solution for you.

for now the best is a 780ti ot a titan, but the 780 is a good solution also.
if you don't want to use an extra psu, your choise is limited to 560, 670 or 760, there is a 680 mac edition but too expensive and not so faster.
the new maxwell series is just aroud the corner so maybe is better to wait and see if something better will come out.
anyway, in the mean time you can still use the 1.0 version of c4doctane with your 285, i think :roll:

yes, of course... the 1.0 version is working... ;)

for now i buyed a gtx 680 4gb yesterday... the difference to the gtx 285 will be hopefully noticeable...
