Hi Juanjo,

I'm having some license issues again after I updated to the latest LW version. It appears I have to have my WiFi on and connected to the net EVERY time I start LW. It did not use to be this way. If I am not connected, Octane says license is used on a different PC. If I am connected, no problemo. Odd huh? I'm in the middle of a project and cant afford to try releasing the license on the Otoy page at the moment.

Cheers,
Andrew.

Did you do a clean install with new config for lw?
I had a different issue with octane activation but it had to do with the ethernet and wifi card needing to be always on but doesn't mean connected to the internet.

I am not sure what could be the problem. Plugin should work without connection, but you can't physical disable the WiFi in your system because license can use the WiFi ID to verify the license ... so, you don't need an Internet connection, but you need the WiFi enabled (even without any connection)

Ok, so that is the issue. I disable the wifi adapter in network connections. Either Otoy changed the way this works, or Octane was using the mac address from an ethernet card prior to this issue, because I normally have the wifi adapter disabled alot of the time on my LW workstation.

I'd far prefer to just be able to turn the adapter off, rather than disconnect.

I wonder if you can specify a ethernet card instead? That must be an option for people that connect via ethernet to their router. My seat of ProEngineer/Creo uses flexLM to lock the license to your network card.

So its the same issue as mine. I've learned not to turn off the etherenet and wifi now too. :D
Better than having to be connected live to the internet though for sure.

It would be good to hear from the Octane devs on this, if they have actually changed something, or if it is just some anomaly.
