I also wanted to ask why we have no access to the camera controls (thin lens camera) in the alembic node.
At first I thought it made sense not to show it since the camera position etc might be animated, but what if I need to adjust a few things which alembic files dont export (eg. aperture edge, near clip depth, anaglyph stereo etc)
Right now I'm importing alembic from modo, and the focal length appears to be wrong in octane. I need the ability to tweak the alembic camera.
Will you be adding this soon?

Packaging was a feature that I expected a lot, and it is fine to pack a scene into an ocp file to reuse it, but what about unpackaging ?
How to get back the content of the ocp file into a folder ? It is very necessary if you have to edit a texture if you have lost the original files or if you have received the ocp file from someone else (a co-worker for example).
I have not found this feature. Is it available currenly ? If not, will it be ?

You can always unpack a package in Octane into a folder (File > Unpack Package..) so what your asking for is there.ROUBAL wrote:Question about packaging :

The only thing is that we discourage packaging in 1.27 because we found some critical bugs and we don't want anybody to loose any work. But then again you should never use a release candidate for doing work.

How strange, my exported scene file (from Daz Studio Alembic Exporter) does not seem to show a connector for a camera (as seen in inthe post by Elvissuperstar007)... ?Elvissuperstar007 wrote:how to set up the camera???
There is no Alembic camera slot on the exported 'scene' object file?
Also,
Still have a skin issue with Alembic but not obj?
Any advice please?
Thank you

UPDATE: Trying to import Michael 4 exported by Daz Alembic exporter crashes ORSA EVERY TIME, Genesis exports fine apart from the messed up texture issue! Also, choosing the option 'preserve subdevision surfaces' results in the Alembic export failing to load every time!

Great ! Thank you Thomas ! So, I have just missed the feature. You can always unpack a package in Octane into a folder (File > Unpack Package..) so what your asking for is there.

I will try asap !

Edit: yes I did, ok got it
hmmm not having much success here. Failed to load orbx. This is using Quadro fx570 as display and gtx 460 for cuda. Driver 307.32. First time I have tried this though so it might be me..

btw device 1 is the 460 = compute 2.1
device 2 is the quadro = compute 1.1
This error happened because you used "Node > Import Nodes", trying to import the full project as a material macro. Granted it's not to well documented on our side. We should have given a more descriptive error in the first place ...
Packages can be opened in Octane just like regular projects via "File > Open..."
cheers,
Thomas
So I guess I am misunderstanding this whole camera thing then people?
Two sources from Daz tell me Cameras are NOT exported with the Daz Alembic exporter or imported with Alembic importers???
I am so confused on this as the videos (Otoy youtube) and some posts here have lead me to believe otherwise!
