Hi Sam,
Thanks for all your hard work, with Rhino 5 (September 29 2010 beta) 32bit it won't load the plug-in - here is what Rhino is saying: Unable to load RenderOctane.rhp plug-in: Rhino version not specified.
Hopefully you will be able to get fixed in your next release.
Thanks,
Glen

How did you try and load the plug-in, drag and drop? If you haven't already, can you please try to open Rhino options -> Plug-ins, click the install button, and select the RenderOctane.rhp and see if that works? It seems to be working fine on 32 bit here, so I'm just trying to figure out why it is failing on your end.glen5700 wrote:Hi Sam,

I did not try the drag and drop, tried it and got the same error message. This did get me thinking of what else I could try - a fresh install of Rhino 5. Uninstalled Rhino 5 and deleted all directors associated to Rhino 5 and then did a fresh install and it worked (I'm back in Rhino/Octane heaven), your plug-in loaded and works with no problems. Probably not a bad thing to do when working with wip software.
Thanks Sam - looking forward to your future updates.

Ulgh! Well, I'm glad it worked, but sorry you had to go through so much to get there. I have a feeling it probably had to do with a missing .NET dependency which the re-install put back in place.glen5700 wrote:Uninstalled Rhino 5 and deleted all directors associated to Rhino 5 and then did a fresh install and it worked
I am still developing, but there is some major rewriting involved so it is taking me longer than I would like. My normal day job work has been the pits as of late, so I am not getting as much of a chance to write as I usually do. I appreciate your patience waiting on me, I know there are serious problems and shortcomings with the current Octane solution for Rhino and I want to and will address them, but I just can't give promises as to when that will be.

I certainly appreciate your effort and your current plug-in is better than nothing. Totally understand your current position and still looking forward to seeing what you have in store for us.
Thanks,
Glen

I don't seem to be able to get the plugin to find the Octane executable. I've been through the registry to try to set the value correctly, but to no avail.
The recent versions of Octane don't seem to have an installer: I just copy the files to a suitable folder. Any idea what I can do to get the plugin to run?
Thanks for your help,
tim

If you are running the latest version of the plug-in, the command OctaneOptions will let you browse to the folder where you stashed the Octane executable. It should then be remembered through all sessions.timbarnes wrote:I don't seem to be able to get the plugin to find the Octane executable.
Let me know if this is not what you are seeing,
Sam

Could you send me the exportOptions.ini file? It can be found at:timbarnes wrote:I get an error when I try to run OctaneOptions (see screenshot).
Vista / Win7:
[WindowsDrive]:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\OctaneExport\exportOptions.ini
XP:
[WindowsDrive]:\Documents and Settings\[User]\Application Data\OctaneExport\exportOptions.ini
As an immediate fix, try renaming exportOptions.ini to something like exportOptions.old, this should force it to recook the export options. When I get your exportOptions.ini file I can take a look and see why it failed.
Thanks,
Sam

The file is present but empty. I deleted it to see if the plugin would create a new one, but after running OctaneOptions again, no ini file was created. I got the same script error, however.
