Check please:
- Is the Octane server running? Do you see the Octane icon in tray?
- If yes, what login/password pair do you use? It should be the pair from "Blender plugin" section of your OctaneLive account, not the standalone pair.
- If above is OK, do you use the same versions of Octane server and Blender edition?
- Do you have the mesh geometry in scene?..

Actually - reinstall does nothing in thiis regard. Perhaps they just forgot to start the server after first install...;)

Started the server .exe and it showed up in the tray allright. Right clicking coses it btw. Is this not enough to start it? i reinstalled it all. Ran it as afmin, you name it, no success :-(

There is geometry in the scene and I use te blender login/pass from the client zone, not my stand alone credentials. Stand alone version runs fine by the way.

Thnx,

Sven

One more of the possible reasons: you should have Internet connection during activation (when you are giving the login/pass pair to the server), and the OctaneServer should have access to outside. Perhaps some network problems, or the firewall is blocking the OctaneServer to outside network access?

Hi, another idea is:
I hit "Enter" after type user/pass several times, if I remember correctly, but you have to start render with F12 or render with preview window.

Cheers, mib.

I gave both blender and octane server all rights in firewall and there is connection, but no luck. Gonna give the f12 preview combo a try!

Thnx mate,

Hi Jimstar,

thanks for the update.

Render Presets are stored now but while being in rendering mode changing a preset will only take effect when reloading the scene manually.

Environment Presets are not working (get the same error reported for the render presets in my previous post).

Something seems to be wrong with the Absorption Node.
I think the scaling factor is wrong and the absorption value has no effect.

Thanks for your effort, Volker

I did think it a bit odd.

In which case something really weird has happened to my current model because the UVs are definitely 90 degrees to where they should be. I will have to investigate.

Thanks for the update.
