Maya instanced geometry not obeying visiblity

yeh T's correct on this. Thanks for picking this up and taking it further.
Just to clarify, as he mentioned, my issue was with the Visibilty attribute on the Transform of object not Shape. (ie. the attribute that's exposed as keyable in channel box along with Translate, Rotate, Scale of an object. Hiding object with Ctrl+H affects this attribute)
To add a little more to this, it also seems to affect instanced objects nested within groups.
If the parent group node is hidden, its children should inherent the visibilty and also be hidden.
But instead, the instance is just directly inheriting the visibility from its original object and ignoring its visibility from its parent hierarchy.
I'm sure this is just the same issue but I encountered this also in my scene.
