Totally daydreaming here, but it is totally possible for me to make a function in Phantom Scatter to create displaced geometry out of a flat triangle and a displacement texture. Maybe that could be a solution?

Octane Render plugin for E-on Vue. :P

After you spoiled me with the Octane Render interactive live preview it has become such a drag to work in e-on vue having to wait seemingly a lifetime until a small preview area renders.
Not only worth a bump, it's worth a displacement ... :)

Nowhere in the article does it say that cuda supports Displacement. The article is from 2005 and talks about the new DX-shaders capability of tessellating geometry. Sorry but Cuda is one thing, DX is another.
