The image with the whole panel in it is a 3D render. (from my original post)
I did use an image of the control panel to model from and also used for the main body of the panels texture. The reference image was fairly high res but of course if you zoom too much on anything the pixels start to show themselves
All the other textures were hand painted is PS except the casing around the buttons, I used a Live DB material (scratched metal or something).
