I just checked the device manager and thats the only network adapter I am using, It was working before this using the same wireless USB adapter. It's really strange that it suddenly stopped working? sigh..

Install the driver for your network card (the Ethernet controller).

Hi, now I am having this problem instead.

Same error. First it appeared, then it dissapeared and everything worked. Then it started again.
I am on a Macbook Pro Retina, using Boot Camp with Windows 7 Enterprise, latest version.

My internet connection comes from my iPhones 3G tethering.

There is no wired network adapter in this computer. Only got wifi and bluetooth. If I want to connect an ethernet cable, I have to buy a Thunderbolt <-> network cable converter. And not sure Windows support that either.

So I cannot use Octane? Must be a work around...

Apart from plugging an ehternet adapter in an USB or thunderbolt port there is no workaround at the moment. We will fix this in a later release.

Hmm. Searched the internet, there are ways to do that it seems. :-)
Will try it tomorrow, thunderbolt <-> ethernet is pretty handy to have anyways.

Here is a link for others, someone got drivers to work for it:

I purchased a usb <-> ethernet adapter and that worked without installing any further drivers.

So no longer get that error. Instead, now I get another. Octane states that I have an active version on another machine and need to deactivate it.

Could be that I tried to install on OS X first, but I don't think I actually was successful in activating it?
Just in case I tried to login via OS X, then Octane stated that nothing was active on this machine. At the same time gave me no options to log on to deactivate.

What now?

Go to http://render.otoy.com/account/octanelive.php and deactivate the OctaneLive ID. You may have to wait about 30 minutes before you can activate it on another computer.

Thanks! Now it works.

One last thing. Tried installing the 3dsmax kepler plugin. Now that one is saying my account is deactivated.
And when I click to activate it with my username and password. It says it's not valid.

Any ideas why?

You need to activate the standalone version with a license ID for OctaneRender Standalone, and then you need to activate the plugin with a license ID for OctaneRender for 3dsMax.
