* firstly you don't need to look for any updates every day - developers said before that instances are at best going to be at the end of the summer. I hope

* secondly if you run out of of Vram with Your low-end card just buy bigger one. At this point you can get easily 4Gb GTX or even 6Gb Quadro/Tesla. Even if i'll buy a 32 gb super-mega-tesla card this wouldn't help on exporting time that the most of the time kill your workflow on animations.
* last but not least, learn some optimisation - Look at game artists - use their tricks. don't just throw premade models.. There are situations were you can't optimize that much like complex vegetation scenes or where clients doesn't want to see their models in low-poly versions. I agree that optimizing is the first step, but there are always limitations.

I would say that 'cycles' is cheap as in free... so because one has not paid as much as other renderers one has less to get? Google has a business built around micro payments, those it means that their costumers expect micro treatment?

Well, i'm not an advocate for Refractive Software, just a member like You guys, so..

On my mind what differs refractive software from google, Pixie, is the fact that they don't run a fremium model =) big G has a lot of free stuff, but a lot of paid ones, that cover their 'living' expences..- these have entirely diferent marketing models/plans - monetisation is an issue on it's own.

Octane is too Young just yet =) but it will be more mature engine one day. Remember the days when vray rolled out to the world as free package (not a right word as it was just a simple piece of software) look where it is now, after 10 years?..how much it costs? =) & what can You do with it..

Everything takes time. In a nutshell, GPU rendering is too young as whole, software and hardware wise. Octane is one of the fastest and most mature engine on the GPU zone for the price way bellow others can offer..it's Your choise to use it or not, to take advantage of it =)

Yes it's not perfect, but i's not done it..just yet. But the work is in progress..

Google is not free. facebook is not free. You pay with your personal data! Keep this in mind. I know many countries don't care about privacy and we Germans are a bit picky about our personal data but for example one big loan-agency do research to connect data from several (socail)sources to calculate your credit-worthiness based on your posts and friend list.

So its all. But not free.

My tv is not free, although it may seem, despite the chosen business model I expect them to provide me with a quality service. That was the parallel I'm trying to make when it was referred that other graphic renderers costed more therefore one cannot compare their level of suport with Octane which is way cheaper...
