that's not a good thing to do...
if nobody enters the competition anymore because one guy posted some nice images,
we will have practically no new images for our gallery.
no new images = no new gallery = no more licenses sold = no more octane render.

Sorry guys if my renders were discouraging for some of you but my intentions were totally opposite... actually I hope these pictures would inspire others to push forward more and more especially using just released beta 2 version.

Radiance thanks for putting these images in official gallery :)

Hi Lechu, your images are awesome ! Thank you for showing them... even if means that we will have more efforts to do ! ;)

The competition by itself is a good thing, because it pushes (at least me) to do unusual things that I would not have done, or not right now. It is a stimulation to bring some ideas out of the shadow.

Yup, but that's mean this comeptition is closed now for users with very strong GPUs.
Ridiculous, but as Lechu said, that's life.

that's not true.
has anyone said that lechu has actually already won the competition ?
nobody said that.

in fact, i've seen much better renders in our first license competition submitted than these renders by lechu (no offense), so you can still make something better.

Hey Radiance, I told this rather generaly. I do not relate my last post to me and my job.
You wrote, that anybody can still win.
I think you have right but It's not a peace of cake for people with 243 MB/512MB and 32/64 streaming CPUs on GPUs thats really not easy man, trust me.
Maybe I'll buy a new GPU, I don't know, I hope I will be able then to upload more polygons than 300 000.
I noticed in new demo I have many hotpixels on specular material with bump and normals :/
Sorry for my offtopic and complainings.

Hey guys, look at the winner of the previous competition, this is not a x million polygons, it's not a complex scene, it's quite simple (no offense), but he won and I'm sure that the rendering didn't required a high end video card. It's just like with photo, it's not the material which makes the image, it's the photografer or the artist, so common, don't get the arms down, I see some great images here and I'm sure you are all talented enough to produce winning material. I want to see more otherwise this competition won't have any reason to be.
