Hi I'm newbie here. Please be patience with my questions. Honestly I'm new to blender. As I'm facing some difficulties with lightwave exporter so I thought I might want to export my animation to blender then from blender export to octane render. I know this is messy but I don't seems to have a choice. Now the question is how to install the octane exporter v1.19 to my mac blender2.6.3? Below is my config:
2 x 2.4Ghz Quad-core Intel Xeon
6 Gb RAM
Nvidia quadro4000 MAC
Lion 10.7.4
Blender 2.6.3
Octane exporter v1.19
Octane Render 2.5.7
Any help is appreciated!
Exporter Installation
Unzip the folder and copy it in the
Open Blender and go to the and enable octane render from the list. Now you can switch to Octane render engine from the engines dropdown in the main window menu bar.
Code: Select all
<your Blender installation folder>/2.63/scripts/addons/
Code: Select all
file -> user references -> addons tab -> render tab
SW: Octane 3.05 | Linux Mint 18.1 64bit | Blender 2.78 HW: EVGA GTX 1070 | i5 2500K | 16GB RAM Drivers: 375.26

Thanks for the reply matej! I'm afraid it's not working on my end. The render tab didn't show Octane exporter option. I placed all the v1.19 .py files into blender.apps/Contents/MacOS/2.6.3/scripts/addons folder after that opened blender and did as advised. I attached a screen shot to illustrate what I meant. It's something that I missed out? Thanks again!matej wrote:Unzip the folder and copy it in theOpen Blender and go to theCode: Select all

Hi Battery555, you have to copy the whole folder "octane" into the addon folder, not the .py files seperate.
YOu could install the addon directly in the user preferences with "Install Addon" and choose the the exporter .zip.
Cheers, mib.

Hi, you haven't installed the exporter properly :
The various py files mustn't be put directly in the addons folder. You have to put the whole folder containing them inside the addons folder. However, sometimes with some addons it seems to not be found.
So, the safest way to install addons is to open first the User Preferences panel and From the button "Install Addon" at the bottom of the panel, select the Zip file. The Zip file will be decompressed and the proper folder will be installed at the right location.
Then, just enable the addon by checking the small square box if not already checked by the install.
