Hi. I am very keen to try out Octane as have been a Vray user for years but have been very impressed with the Octane stuff. Is anyone running successfully with the GTX 680? I have downloaded the demo but only seem to get (failed) next to the graphics card info in the main preview window of the demo stand alone. On another thread it was stated this wouldn't be a problem with the 3ds max plug in version? Don't want to have to pay 99 euros for it not to work at all. Thanks

Hi jbsfender,

At this stage there is only a test candidate of octane for kepler cards (available for licensed customers only).
Performance is not ideal on the kepler cards, the fermi cards currently perform better.
We are hoping this will change in the future with the release of CUDA 5 and some time for optimisations too be done.

The 3DS Max plugin uses the core of the standalone version to do the rendering, it is a plugin only so this won't help (you still need a standalone license/version to work with the plugin).

If you can get your hands on a 5xx series card to trial on, that would be ideal.

Cheers
Chris.

Yes, just go ahead. Octane has been fully compatible to Kepler GPUs (GT(X/S) 6...) for quite a while. At the moment it's safe to say that you can use pretty much all CUDA GPUs with Octane.
