I've had this problem several times before when trying to render buildings, but now it's happening with vehicles.

the viewport initially stays all black and runs up to a few hundred passes and then freezes. if you close the viewport, it then defaults to this 0/0 samples and grey screen when you reload it, and the only way to reset it is to restart the computer, has anyone had this experience or shed some light on why this is happening??

it's not an exposure or lighting problem, seems more internal

It looks like you use an old version.
What video card do you use? I don't know any nvidia card with 4GB memory.

I have a Quadro 4000 and a Tesla C2075, but the tesla was the only card I was using for octane when it crashed.

I am using the 2.58b, I'll try installing the newest version and see if that helps

The new build did the trick, I feel silly for asking

The arch & design conversion is great too! and the focus picker! should have updated a long time ago, thanks for the quick help!
