The only render I seem to be able to obtain, is colored clay. When I turn off colored clay, I still see colored clay. I am expecting to see a photorealistic render in that window. I see no render command to invoke a new window. I have poured over the manual and see nothing that clarifies my problem.
Nor does the render iterate in resolution over time, getting more and more refined. I am very confused, as this seems to really do nothing. But the talk on the street is great. Help!
On a side note, does the paid product support 3ds max 2013? If not, when might it?
Cannot see materials in render / 3ds 2013 supported?

are you using the demo? and did the scenes from the demo suite work correctly when you tried them out?
currently, the official releases work well with 3ds 2010, 2011 and 2012.

Thanks. I had not thought to try a demo scene. It works fine. So the problem appears to that I was rendering and OBJ exported from unsupported Max 2013. I think it is odd that the materials imported without error and failed. An error ought to have been detected.

what happens if you try a simple scene and then follow the export settings like the one here:

the 3dmax to octane exporter script seems to works just fine, I tested the latest one and it exported correctly - didn't try animation, the octane3dmax plugin, doesn't work yet..
