Are you ever gonna release a demo for this thing?

...cause we've been waiting almost four months for it. If you are not going to do it, just say so, because right now, you're pretty much wasting people's time with something you guys said were going to release. WHEN?
Win 7 64bits / Intel i5 750 @ 2.67Ghz / Geforce GTX 470 / 8GB Ram / 3DS Max 2012 64bits

Catching up on some unanswered forum posts on a quiet Saturday evening...
Yeah they don't help themselves my promising things and not delivering for ages do they?
Doesn't help for them to pass on questions about it either.
We can only live in hope it arrives sometime soon else we'll need to add it the Octane FAQ.
If they want to encourage more sales it makes sense to have a demo on offer

hey pixel ty for dropping by... I agree, with a demo they would sell at least four times the licenses, whatever, i dont mind if their late, it's not knowing if it's ever going to happen... issue that btw got answered by PM. Demo is delayed in favor of a new product, but they will eventually do it. (if you knew what software they have prioritized over a max demo you'd probably facepalm though...)

Yup well come Monday I'm going to decide whether to pull the plug on my Octane involvement or not.
It will be 2 months since Otoy took over Refractive and Nvidia are due to make their Tesla (& pro Geforce?) announcement. Frankly Otoy have looked fairly lame with their management broom so far and nothing notable has arrived for Octane in a l-o-n-g time, not even the fabled 3d max demo which ought to be fairly easy to do, after, is it, 5 months of promises? There is no sign a Blender plugin is ever going to come about either. I'm not sure radiance hasnt just taken the money and run because he doesnt seem to be around anymore despite what was said.
Meanwhile Nvidia would seem to have deliberately set gpu compute performance back 3 years and stiffled cuda powered renderers and other apps for their own selfish financial reasons....
All in all its getting hard to justify hanging around in the hope of some improvement/redemption even for old forum hands like myself. There is only so long you can keep watching this space and keep the faith.
Very disappointing way to end up after such a promising beginning...not that its a total failure or anything....just very disappointing not as much has been achieved as ought to have been for one reason and another.
Unfortunately its pretty hard to see where its going now other than nowhere fast

well, I agree to some points.. but if you are using 3dmax, the 3dmaxoctane plugin is working pretty impressively... I compared to other available gpu renders for 3dmax, octane is the most advanced one.. and you can do all of that stuff you cannot in the standalone version, even has dedicated octane lights with simple on off switches, which work real nice, and standalone doesnt have it .. to me personally, octane still gives me the best results and I just got used to it so whatever happens Ill still use it..
well if you got 100 euro to spend buy the plugin if you cant wait to try it..
if you know you will use it, whatever man, get it.. the 3dmaxplugin matured pretty fast and it supports all of the features of standalone, since Karba is really listening to us and is reproducing good results.. the focus pick button works, the material translators work - this one really speeds up material setup, (click and drag a texture from file explorer into max window and onto the the object directly and press the convert to octane materials button to get quick results - you cant drag and drop textures onto objects in standalone)
