I guess that instances require a serious redesign of Octane core, since right now a scene in Octane is just a pile of static geometry, but for instances Octane will need to recognize objects, ie. chunks of geometry that "fit together". This redesign will make possible a lot of other features also, like moving objects around, hiding objects, local coordinates, etc...

But depending on what state this development is currently in it will take some time, be sure of that. In the meantime they should keep coming the updates with usability features, like the last 2.58

hi folks,

Thanks everyone for all the concern.

Company changes even in post acquisition is a lengthy process. As it turns out, filling up the posts is not as easy as putting letters in pigeonholes ;). In some occasions, we need to move people from one continent to another. Like trees, we just can't pluck them out, replant them somewhere and expect them to grow if special care is not taken at the roots.

The development is continuing despite these matters. Even though we were (and still are) a few people short beta 2.57 for both Standalone version AND 3dsmax plugin were released in second week of January, and 2.58 is already underway. Moreso, a kepler build has been made available for those interested.

We are reorganizing and staffing up... although this takes time, we are moving forward for sure

Don't know what are your settings for this material but if you need a mirror, just lower the roughness near 0 and upper specular near 1 (diffuse will change color of reflection)

If you need a transparent glass, play with opacity on a glossy material or convert it in specular (but need two sides)

I'm not sure of what you want to do, are they mirrors ? if yes, no need to use specular instead use glossy 100% for opacity and specular, and roughness to 0.

if there is something to see behind glass, put some light inside other rooms and lower light in the main one because like in real life, a glass is fully reflective when light is more powerfull in your main room.

Hope you will understand my bad explanations (in a bad english ;-))

Can you post a comparison between this version and the previous version?
