Hello,
I currently own a z600 hp workstation with a quadro 2000 card, i would like to ad a second card to boost render times, but i'm not sure which card i should get. After some researched a found out that the z600 has power limitations concerning a second graphics card.
Has anyone here has experience with a similar setup. Any help would be much appreciated.

Lutze, you have a GTX 470 in an HP Z600? Does it run stable? I'm thinking of trashing my FX1800 for a GTX 470. How do you power the 2nd PCIE aux slot?
yes I run the gtx470 in an HP Z600. You get the second power adapter from the second (empty) drive bay. I figuered myself how to do it before my HP reseller pointed me in the right direction. The Z600 runs fine with the gtx470, the power supply has more than enough reserves to run it.
My Problem was, that because of the problems with the gtx4xx series and Houdini (and other 3d apps) I wanted to install a second card to use as primary display card. For this card there is second PCIx slot but no more power adapter left in the Z600. So I bought a new Quadro 2000 which does not require separate power other than that of the PCIx slot and is is very fast under Houdini and Softimage. The GTX470 I use to run Octane. This combination works fine for me.
Hope this helps.
