Hi guys I'm from Brazil and have two questions about Octane, hope you could help me.

First, I need to set up a new rig for render and I'm thinking about an EVGA SR-2 motherboard with 8 Nvidia GTX 590 cards.
Can I use these Nvidia cards withou scalating problems? I mean, these cards have an internal SLI bridge. Will theses cards work ok?

Second, there are any kind of limitations per card memory in one scene. I mean, here using Iray I have limitations per scene. If I'm using one card with 1.5Gb my scene can't use more than 1.5Gb using only my VGA card, then the render goes all by CPU. If I'm using two 1.5 Gb cards total scene amount cannot be larger than the 1.5Gb memory limitation even with two cards (3Gb total amount).

PS: Sorry about my lame english, hope you could understand.
Thanks in advance!

don't buy the SR2, with Octane you will not use 2 processors. If you use iray or Arion gpus+cpus will render together.
Think that 2 exacore Xeons 3.44Ghz are equal to one single GTX580 in performance... I did some tests with Arion disabling the gpus. I got Arion too.

It's better to buy one Asus P6T7 WS that has 7 slots pci-e + 4 GTX580 cards with 3GB each. If you want more power and slots buy a Tyan barebone with 8 GTX580.
You could fit 7 gtx580 watercooled on the Asus mother board.

The scene has to fit on every graphics card, so the maximum amount of memory the scene can take is determined by the card with the smallest available memory.

I'm thinking about setting up a station to work exclusively with octane. My question was exactly about memory usage. I have another question and maybe someone here knows me answer.
It's possible I use the cards only render using octane Tesla 2070, without having to put a table together?
Thank you ...

Can I fit 4 gtx580 classified on the Asus P6T7 WS and leave the slots in between empty and cool only with fans and without watercooling in combination with the right case :?:
If not maybe 3 gtx580, and surely just 2x Without watercooling I guess :?:

I can get my hands on 4 gtx580 classified but I don' t want watercooling, and I am not sure how to configure the new PC with maximum number of gtx with aircooling only. I would appreciate advice on this very much and hopefully I can go crazy with Octane soon :P Do you think 2x gtx580 will be enough to go crazy :?:

Get flexible raisers & make an extension (modification) for Your case that would lay You GPUs like fallen dominos. Underclock a bit. In that way you will have no problem running those on air..otherwise..it's logical to use WC.

Hi glimpse...sorry... I am a newbie on tech stuff like this and with Dutch as primary language  What are flexible raisers?
Can I use this mobo http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Intel_ ... /P9X79_WS/
with 3x or 4x gtx580 and with only aircooling? It looks like the cards will have space between them because of the position of the slots.
And with the right case for enough aircooling like The Antec 1200: http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=Njkz
.... It might work? Or is it kind of a vast rule using 3 or 4 cards without extension/expander and just sticking them on a mobo (4Sli ready or not)... always needing WC?

Look for PE-FLEX16kr-3- these allow you simply to displace cards from modtherboard so You can tilt them or spread a bit =) to have more airflow between.

That looks interesting. They talk about "system power" and "isolated power", but I am not exactly sure what they mean. Do you think it would be possible to have separate power supplies for the motherboard and for the GPU?
