The question is, will we see a desktop version or only workstation/server quadros/teslas.
Yep, this is the big question, let's hope that Nvidia will provide GK110 as an affordable gaming card too.

This is very important and interesting information. Hopefully the Octane developers will have a look at it.

i vote: go for kepler, because time is money
Come on t_3 you are only saying that because you bought one :P Time is money but this card is not going to help. ;)
Lets get the instancing and other bits of v1 done first.
I agree it looks to be not too far away :) so you won't have too long a wait.

Instancing also saves a great deal of time. :P

I'm impartial to both at the moment. I'd be happy to have either Kepler or instancing first.

btw, i did some own tests using this. hard to judge because the app isn't exactly meaningful in terms of octane's needs. using the _not optimized_ fermi kernel, that 680 was already on par with a 580, what we clearly don't see in real world use. the optimized kepler kernel gave it another 30% better performance. counting all that numbers and tests together, we may see a fully cuda 4.2 and kepler optimized code bringing the 680 to about 580 levels. on the plus side would be still more vram and no longer any texture limits... could be still worth the upgrade, if this is finally proved.

now lets hope for the GK110 :D
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply

...any news on the build. I can't help but think that the "tweaking" will make this card scream.

Be aware of this 'rebranding' http://www.tomshardware.com/news/nvidia ... 15289.html

What they do is..basicly renaiming 5xx to 6xx and with minor tweeks & reseling it to audience =)

..for us, Octane users, there are no performance boost, but rather reduced performance as some of these models are optimised more for efficiency, rather than pure power =) so do Your homework before upgrading..

In few words: buying 6xx not neseceraly leads to better performance & that could be even fermi based card =) You can pay more, to get less =)

so I'll go to a 580 from my 470 instead..good choice? what performance would I expect comparing?
