UPDATED: I was importing the kitchen scene at TINY resolution !!! When scaled correctly, DirectLight computes correctly. Here are the new results:

I would add that even after it, if e.g. the door is modelled 1000 units high - you will get incorrect render results.kubo wrote:the proper scale is one unit = one meter, in max there is TWO places you have to check to set meters as your scene scale. Under "customize"/"unit setup" set metric and meters, and then in that same dialog, the button up top, system units, click it and set 1 unit = 1 meter. Hope it helps.
