Hey guys,

I know you do it for full releases, but can I get on an email list to know when the next release candidate is out too? I don't remember getting one in the past, but maybe I forgot.

The product is still in beta. There have been no RCs to date.

Refractive doesn't exactly follow the standard software release model...
There have been many downloadable pre-release versions in this the "Release Candidate Testing Forum"... I shortened it RC. I didn't mean an official RC like in a normal scenario...

When the newest version of a release goes into a "beta of the beta" or whatever, it gets posted here in this forum. I would like to get an email sent when any new version gets posted. I already get an email when an official one gets published to the "Commercial Product News & Releases (Download here)" Forum.

well that is their problem. A release candidate is software which could, potentially, be released and barring the detection of major bugs will be released. To date RS has not released a single one of these. They can choose to call their beta releases what they want but they are still beta releases. Mind you I don't even think they qualify for this term. They are more like trial builds. A beta release would give some sort of indication as to the completeness of the software. You can't keel calling software that you are developing a beta release.

A release candidate (RC) is a beta version with potential to be a final product, which is ready to release unless significant bugs emerge. In this stage of product stabilization, all product features have been designed, coded and tested through one or more beta cycles with no known showstopper-class bug.

Octane technically never was in RC stage

For the sake of this thread; it really doesn't matter what the definition of a release candidate is, nor does it matter how they call their releases.

The fact is a different version gets released in this part of the forum than in the "Product News and Releases" part of the forum, and some people would like to be informed when the latest version is available to download from this part.

I'm inclined to agree with him. It would be nice.
