I have a few questions to and about Octane render:

Can i buy Octane Render from refractive software without paypal (maybe bank transfer)? Because i read much bad things about paypal (debit money from your bank account without any reason). So is there another way to buy octane?

Second question: Which renderer is faster? Octane, Cycles Render or the OpenCL version of luxrender SLG? Maybe you can't answer objectively as Octane render users but i appeal on you to try your best. I have to render interior scenes very fast and most physically correctly. I tried in the beta version the pathtracing algorithm and it seems to be slow or not even faster than cycles or SLG. Is MLT or Bidirection pathtracing implemented in Octane? Is a algorithm implemented which avoid fireflies (i have that problem in SLG)? I want to make sure that i don't throw my money out of a window. So is Octane render worth the money? I hope you understand my bad english  .

Edit: Third question: If i set up my materials and textures in blender and with the blender - octane plugin (is that plugin free or does it cost something?) activated i render the scene. Is then the scene only exported as a .obj or are textures and materials etc. already applied and i can render the scene without doing anything else? I hope you understand that...

Is my GTX 470 Super Overlclocked from Gigabyte good enough for Octane? Can i also render scenes with complicated light situations in a acceptable render time noise-free?

Will there some speed improvements implemented in the future? Or are all already implemented? Such as MLT or BiDir? Octane Render crashes while importing an .obj file :(. Why it is crashing? That is no sign for stability!

With best regards

about paypal, I'm pretty sure you can pay with other methods, ask at [email protected] about it.
on the fastest renderer... well, I've only toyed around with cycles and haven't used luxrederer, so I'm not the best one to anwser that.
Octane has PMC which is it's own implementation of MLT, it works great for indirect light sources. Fireflies have not been a problem for quite some time, PT or PMC along with the hotpixel removal option are pretty strong and firefly free.
Blender's plugin is free, is supported by yoyoz, a customer, and he does a good job of keeping it up to date. With it, like all the other exporter plugins, which are also free (not to be confused with the integrated plugins), you can easily export your scene to Octane standalone, and they export the materials to an extent, but for proper setups you'll have to tweak them inside Octane once exported. Once you adjust the materials and save you can do as many changes in blender and relink your file that your materials and scene setup will be saved.
I'm using most of the time a single 570 for my renders, and it does a fair job, but it all depends on your needs, check the gallery and WIP threads and look for renders in your line of work, times are linear with the GPU's so it's quite easy to figure out how long it would take in yours.
If the demo is crashing on your scene, most likely you are not exporting it right, check out this thread for proper exporting options from blender http://www.refractivesoftware.com/forum ... f=21&t=362

I can't find any other payment options than PayPal at the website of refractive software. I don't know why refractive software is supporting these criminals. I read some horrible stories about PayPal. PayPal can freeze your money for 180 days for no reason and gives your personal data to other companies. As long as i can only buy octane via PayPal i won't buy Octane. I hope that refractive software will open some other payment options.

Edit: I read this in the General terms and conditions: " The client can make payment by bank transfer, check, paypal or credit card." That sounds good but why are there no instructions for that and how i can use it?

I guess I wasn't too clear, if you want to pay by paypal or credit card you can do so thru the link, if you rather do a bank transfer do contact Refractive Software at [email protected] and ask them. they'll give you proper instructions on how to proceed.

Sorry but I have no idea, you could ask your bank since it'll be them they'll be charging you for the currency exchange. And welcome aboard btw
