Gabriele, here are the hard facts :)

PT engine with max 10 bounces. Res 3000 * 1500 (Rendertime 8 hours up to 64000 samples) and resized (and slightly cropped) to 1920 *1080 pixels.
VRAM usage around 700 MB.
Environment HDRI.
The carpet is done in ZBrush (fibers).
64000 samples???????????????????
with hdrs is possible...
8 hours with 7 gpus not bad...;)
Definitively we need the GTX680s...

I didn't need 64000 samples to clear things out but I have rendered it over night so it didn't matter if it takes 3 hrs or 8 hrs.
The new 600 series will at least drop the electricity cost.
But I gonna stick with my 500 setup for some time.
