i think if Arch.Design materials of MR could be supported, it would be niceCan you make a list of mentalray materials you want to convert. As short as possible. MentalRay has huge amount of materials, i wouldn't like to make a convertor for every one.

Any news about a demo version of Octane for Max (was promised for January)? We would like to give it a try in our office to see how it´s integrated before thinking about buying some licences.
Thanks

another option: http://www.evvisual.com/index.php?optio ... 2&Itemid=9 (at the bottom - donationware) no idea if this is sufficient, but at least easy to find out...nrygpu wrote:any update on this functionality? I really need to use a lot of mr and arch+design materials with Octane. Anyone know of a good solution?

Thanks for the link t_3
Are you suggesting that I might try to use this script tool to convert all the materials into vRay first? Then use the built in tool inside the Octane 3ds Max plugin to convert vRay materials?
How well does the vRay material converter for Octane Max plugin work?

I am having a major technical problem with Octane. We have multiple computers with GPU's but for some reason they are not processing animation frames correctly. Running OctaneRender for 3ds max plugin inside of 3ds max Design 2012 x64 bit.
We have:
-1 system with (2) Tesla M2090's 6GB video memory each
-1 system with (8) GTX 580's 1.5GB video memory each
and
-1 system with (4) GTX 580's 1.5GB video memory each
The problem I am having is that when I try to run a range of frames inside of 3ds Max Design 2012 with the OctaneRender for 3ds Max plugin, it will render like 1 to 2 frames at the most and then do nothing. I did a test last night on two of the systems and ran them both for 7 hours over night. The systems do not seem to be using hardly any resources. I have tried this on all 3 machines with the different GPU's and get the same result. We have really optimized the scene for Octane and it is only loading 900mb onto each GPU into the video memory so I do not think that is the problem. Especially with the Tesla cards since they each have 6GB of video memory.
We need to render 15,000+ frames for this project and it is due in about two weeks from now!!! I really need to figure out why this is happening asap! Has anyone had the same issue and if so how did you fix it?
Your help is much appreciated!

Ok, who is Karba? Should I contact him/her directly???
I am doing tests now just by choosing to render a single frame at a time. It is very tedious but it is working without problems. Others mentioned that using multiple cards might be causing an issue but that is not the case since I can render each frame in about 1 minute. The problem only occurs when I try to process a range of frames.
This is a real serious problem with the Octane for max plugin! I bought this software because I though it was capable of using all of the Max animation tools. Now we have spent days setting up our scenes in Max for Octane and this problem could really mess us up.
I really hope there is a solution for this as we have a really tight deadline and cannot back up now.
Thank you!!!
