Another test, more like fiction and the scene setup in Softimage.
Some ICE stuff for strands and to calculate the position of they and the glow behind the planet to become no shadows.
Color correct and background in Photoshop...

You have a great render here and something that looks very interesting.

I remember some time ago, I was in a desperate search for something abstract to render as part of a elective requirement and choose to model that spiral design on Blender's logo that looked quite similar to this.

Anyway, that is off topic already but I just thought I would share.
