Hello all
I want to buy a video card, but I have a small budget.
I have two choices:
ASUS GeForce GTX470 PCIE 1280MB GDDR5
and
GeForce GTX560 1GB GDDR5
Which option is better ? Which video card is faster ?
Maybe take two GTX470 video cards?

The gtx560 is a little slower than gtx470 but also cheaper, i would go for a gtx 560 2GB and put another one later.
Two GTX560 are faster than a GTX 580.
There are three different versions of GTX560, 560, 560Ti and 560TI 448 cores with 1GB, 1.28GB and 2GB.
Each one is faster than the one before and more expensive. If it in your buget get 560Ti 2GB, if not get GTX560 2GB.
Cheers, mib.

@Neshas,
Well that depends.
1gb or 1.28 gb vram will be both fairly limiting for Octane scenes unless your render needs are fairly basic.
The 470 is a bit faster but probably also noisy and hot so make sure the case ventilation is good.
The little bit more vram will be useful. If these are your only two choices the 470 is definitely the better one.
If you need more vram, could live with less speed and have the $ for two GTX470 perhaps a GTX560ti/2gb is affordable? This card is a reasonable performer by itself (faster than my 460) and as mib says you could perhaps add another later. Having said that 2x 470 will be ~3x faster than a 560/1gb. IMO 1.28 gb is a not really enough space for Octane. Keep your 9800 to use as a display card.
HTH.

In similar boat. I have GeForce GTX 480 1.5GB and just added my old GeForce GTX 240 1GB to the system. I want to replace the GTX240 with a better card but unsure what to get.
Having these 2 different cards increase the processing power from 480 cores plus the 96 cores of the Gtx240 but i think it is slowing down the renders not sure.
