Hello RS Team,

Octane is a great program but it would be even great to have following features added to it.

1) Reflection and refraction map
2) Object wise environment settings
3) Back plate in octane standalone (probably with ground shadow?)
4) one object do not see the other ones (especially in reflection and refraction)

Regards

1.) what do you mean? Reflection and IOR can be modulated with a texture.
2.) can you elaborate a little more. Why it would be useful? How it would work?
3.) +1
4.) As I read around this is probably not possible / not feasible to implement in Octane (but others may have better insight)

Dear Matej,

Thanks for your reply.

Sorry, I should have explained in detail.

* For each render setup we do with HDRI, we setup an environment texture image, which can be seen in object reflections and refraction and also illuminates the scene... Now, I am expecting to have three different HDRI's we can use for a single scene where, one would be just for reflection, one would be for refraction and one would be for illumination. I am sure, its not a physical phenomena, but would be a great addition to the features and certainly many people would love it.

* Object wise environments are very useful in rendering highly reflective and transparent objects (f.i. jewelry) and there is always a play off between diamonds and gold. Gold do not render well in an environment where diamond renders very well and vice versa.

Thanks

Yeah, I agree that it would be useful. IIRC there has been some talk about this already, but what I can remember the general consensus is that it would be very difficult or not feasible to implement. I hope someone with better knowledge will answer your questions :)
