I just had a quick look at your Ripples Maker on blender 2.61 and it looks like nice results could be obtained from there. I really like your approach on this kind of stuff. May be you could improve it by making the texture tillable (If you use 2x2 array modifiers where appropriate and recenter the camera, it should do the trick), square and a size of a power of two
Does the current blender exporter support movie textures?
@Roubal: no, it's simple animated bump texture and I don't even know where I picked it up at that time
