currently there are 3 products.
Octane Standalone is the main app.
Integrated plugins, right now only 3dmax integrated plugin is available, but more are in the works, you need a license for each plugin and an Octane standalone license for them to work. They integrate seamless in your modeling app and you render from within your app with the tools you are already used to.
Exporter scripts, those are free to all licensed customers, they help to export from your modeling app to Octane standalone, and there is almost one for each major app out there.

Thx for the reply.
I've already used the Demo version, my only problem is I cant import an OBJ mesh with several parts from Maya 2012 to Octane and have them shaded and textured inside octane seperately. Is this possible to do today with the one of the versions that are available for purchase ?
currently octane works with just one large mesh. a future update will indeed provide the possibility to render several separate meshes at once - if this is what you meant. it is of course already possible to apply materials to whatever part of a mesh, given that the exported .obj/.mtl contains all the needed material links. also there is a specific maya exporter available for customers, and a maya integrated plugin (like the one currently available for max) will get on refractive's roadmap, sooner or later...sean wrote:Thx for the reply.

Thx for the answer, so which products/versions should I purchase now to be able to shade/texture different parts of an imported OBJ mesh from Maya?

For Maya, there is only one version, the Octane standalone.
If there is any integrated plugin for Maya in the pipeline, you need always a standalone license to use Octane for Maya.

octane standalone is currently the only option - if you purchase it, you'll get access to the exporter plugin for maya. but just to make this clear: even the demo allows to apply materials to whatever part of a mesh (imported as .obj), the exporter just makes this process much easier.sean wrote:Thx for the answer, so which products/versions should I purchase now to be able to shade/texture different parts of an imported OBJ mesh from Maya?

if a maya integrated plugin will become available some day, you'll need to buy an extra license for this plugin, as all integrated plugins are sold separately (and work in conjunction with the standalone license). the existing exporter is available free of cost (currently for maya 2011, but should work in 2012 too).

After you´re a licensed customer, you will see a new section in the forum.
Go to the "Plugin Discussion/Support" subforum and you will find a Maya section.
