Hey guys,

i am new to octane render. the demo of octane render blowed me away. bought it.

here´s the problem:
i tried to export a simple scene out of blender with the blender plugin. with automatic start of octane render exporter.
now i tried to set some image textures (add --> texture --> image) to my materials (add --> material --> diffuse).
connected the nodes, but the only thing octane did is to set only one color to my mesh.

what confuses me is if i open a demofile from the octane homepage (for examle the chess file) i have no problems with image texturing. So the problem seems to be the export from blender to octane. but i left the settings as they are, no adjustments!

can anybody help me?

What you do in the node graph after you exported, has nothing to do with the Blender exporter anymore. Post a screenshot of the node setup that is giving you problems.

EDIT: before that check if your mesh is UV-unwrapped and your scale is right.

hi matej,

thanks for quick answer.

do i always have to uv-unwrap my mesh-objects? Every Object? Are there no setting for automatice routines in the blender plugin or something.

Screenshot comes later this day, because i´m not at home.

If you want to use image textures, yes, you need to unwrap all your objects (IIRC, procedural textures in Octane don't use UV, but "global" coordinates, so for procedurals you don't need to unwrap your objects).

The exporter doesn't have any automatic unwrapping, because it doesn't need it. In Blender it's easy & fast to automatically unwrap your mesh with one click - just use any of the auto options (cube, cylinder, sphere... etc)
