I'm confused. I found several references online saying that octane would use both v-ray and mental textures, but when I use the plugin all I get is white.

I tried to make a texture using the mr Connection inputs, but they don't seem to do anything.

Are mr textures currently not implemented in the plugin? If so, is there a timetable for getting them to work?

This is somewhat frustrating for me as my whole interest in this was to get it working with Revit...

At this moment there is only convertor from VRay materials to Octane.

Do you have a timeline for this feature?

Your product announcement included this as a feature.

"The plug-in will allow automatic conversion of 3ds Max internal, Mental Ray and V-Ray materials into Octane Materials."

Sorry for delay.
We have this plans to do support for mental materials in future. Mental ray has so many different materials so it is not easy to do.

I bought Octane standalone as well as the 3DS Max plugin over the weekend. One of the key items I was really interested in that clearly stated in the RS forum posts from Octane Team members who announced the 3DS Max plugin that it would work with mentalray materials, and that there would even be some automatic conversion for mentalray and vRay to Octane materials.

Why is this clearly stated as a feature if it is in fact not?

Any timeline on this? I am working on a large project with a tight deadline and now I will have to redo all the materials from mr to Octane materials. I am not sure if I will be able to make this deadline doing that so I may need to just try to render with mentalray or iray. What a bummer...

Octane is awesome and I am happy with my purchase but I really hope RS can stick to their features list they posted. Maybe I was reading it wrong? Is that a planned features list?

I was lead to believe that too, i thought Octane could internally use Mental ray materials and Vray not just a simple material converter.

I the only real Mental ray Material worth supporting is the Arch&Design shader.

Has any progress been made on converting mentalray or Autodesk Standard Material library to Octane materials?

Did you try 2.58b?
But it contains small bug with arch&design material. opacity is set to 0.0 (It will be fixed in next release). All other functions work properly.
