3 days and nights, a lot drink of coffee... Finally end!!! (i hope) :), unless, you have tips for this project?, plees share it.
I have a question, do you now, where can I find information about the blender project file, like: stats ? polygons memory usage etc ?

If I can help I would propose to look at the beggining of "Sherlock Holmes" the movie ( the first one ) .... there are logos of warner bros. etc. blended greatly in this kind of ground....
Your work is reminding me that... so we are half way there ;)

for quick tips of improvements would be water on the ground + more contrasted light ... or maybe some directional light ( not from sun&sky - but maybe look for hdri which can emit the light from one direction.... ...like the most bright light would come from left upper corner ... and on the right side it would be almost black )

for sure this way You will get more depth and fidelity....

or maybe You should just watch and Ill shut up... You have all the answers here ( at least for me )

For the video, yes I remember that. Very original.

If you are a Blender user, and want to do some effects in water puddles, you could try my Ripples Maker setup.
I made it with Blender 2.4x, but it works with 2.5x and 2.6x :
