finally ies are here...
I'm testing now this new feature.
I think that Octane for Max ies lights tool have a great potential, and I wanna thank Karba and all Refractive's staff.
But at this state of develop these lights are unusable because the icon that represent them in the Max viewport is rendered.
Sometime is rendered white, sometime black.
I tried to create a white semitransparent disc and I put the ies light object behind. In this case I have to create holes on the ceiling but the computation time increase.
Ies light primitive should have these characteristics:
01) kelvin temperature
02) color...now available
03) power...now available but greater than 1000
04) efficiency
05) geometric representation of the ies web distribution
06) icon shouldn't be renderizable and scalable (now you can scale and deform it)
07) must be target-able
08) color and power should have a realtime feedback during the render
09) web icon should have realtime feedback when is rotated in the Max viewport
10) orientation should report x-y-z character in the UI panel
11) the input file button should remember the directory where the ies file stay
13) ies distribution should be rendered without that black hole in the center (see the example)
14) should have the light samples option
15) support for asymmetrical and linear ies
I attached here some example to show you what is possible to do with a participating media
