After browsing thr' the help pdf and forum but couldn't find how to convert standard or vray materials to octane version. Anybody help to this newbie question?

Found that button now in "OctaneRender Settings" tab.

Now my question changed to:

Is there a way to convert 3dsmax standard material into Octane material?

i think that Octane for Max reads standard materials with textures....

Hi Gabrielefx,

Thanks for your reply. I did try out. Whenever neither the material type or texture type is not 'octane's', the material did not show up in realtime preview and appeared pure white.

Another try is when I converted v-ray material with standard texture map, not v-ray texture, resulted in 'octane material' with standard texture, not octane type. This case, again, not worked.

I used max 2011 32 bit, octane standalone v2.52, octane for 3dsmax v2.56, 1 x GTX 580 3GB, WinXP 32 bit.

Also, any clue to access live DB within 'octane for 3dsmax'?

No it doesn not read standard materials. They are white. I dont like it too because most of my 3d library is made wit hstandard materials because they are mostly used.
I hope it will do soon...at the moment I have materials for the same model for standard, maxwell, mentalray and now even octane?? its a bit too much work to convert for every project.

Has anyone experienced success with converting mentalray materials, standard materials, or arch+design materials to Octane materials using MultyConverter?

Would be great to know how well this works. If you are using it, could you please share the steps to use to convert materials to Octane materials inside of 3DS Max? Would be much appriciated since I have a huge project deadline and there is no way I can convert all the materials on time manually. I don't want to lose this project as they are good client. Thanks! :D
