radiance wrote:Hi guys,

We are wrapping things up, making sure everything works perfectly,
And making sure a complete manual comes with the first release, changing the website, shop, licensing etc...
I had flu last week so we have a bit of a delay,
We will aim for monday, in 3 days :)

Just be a bit patient, its nearly ready to go out...

What I don't like about Refractive is that they announced a product with precise dates of release. Refractive's philosophy is wrong too. It's better don't announce a product if isn't finished yet.
I can make investments because I want to be the first to use that product.
If Octane standalone costs 500€ probably 1st december we would have bought the plugin for (example) 300€.
I purchased a 5000€ gpu workstation to use Octane embedded in Max because Refractive announced the product, no problem to pay more for a professional product.
My clients can't wait, I can use iray or arion at the moment as alternative.

Why I'm the only person here that needs this plugin?
My friend i can understand you 100%.

But a really friendly advise because i see that you are a pro, dont relay on Betas wait for final products, i am quite sure that you are aware that even final products have problems and needs servise packs in order to remove bugs etc etc.

Now for the plugin its almost the same as the stand alone (ok i must say that you can save time with the movements and exports) but it produces the exact same quality, so you can use the stand alone and complete your projects without having your clients wait.

Dont you agree??

Personally my issue isn't with the delay but the lack of an update - it only takes seconds to post on the forum and keep everyone in the loop. Silence in the presence of their own missed release date creates thorny posts as people get irritated. Come on Refractive - let us know the situation and the angry posts will diminish - just like last time.

Thanks

J.

You guys can't blame RS if you decide to do commercial work with Octane... or if you buy an expensive rig just for it. Don't get too desperate, in New Zealand things go slowly (apparently). Hopefully soon and hopefully with A DEMO!

it's the silence of the lambs; or of the sleep at least. as it is currently half past two in the morning in new zealand, we may get official news in some 6-8 hours.

btw; anybody noticed when radiance wrote "we aim for monday"? to me this already sounds like a monday or tuesday or even wednesday.

so instead of insisting here over and over again, we should use the time making some nice images. i'm surely will do. and insisting won't have any speeding effect on development also ;) it's pretty clear that they don't let us wait just for the fun of it. and i can also understand that - at some point - it is just better to say "NOW" instead of "maybe tomorrow"...
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply
