Here's a patch of grass i normally use.
I usually instance it and then patch up a whole lawn of pieces,
and rotate/tilt every piece a little bit so it does'nt look copied.

it works very well, although it's so much geometry that if you want to make a large lawn,
you really need instancing otherwise you'll end up with 10M polys.
