Load your scene, open the octane export in layout master plugins.
Click "Prepare Scene"
Hop over to Modeler, run OctaneExporterMOD.lsc (i recommend making a hotkey or menu item for this one...)
Hope over to Layout and hit the render button.
Let me know how it goes.
Materials will be messed up, will fix that
Well, when I click to "Prepare current F..." nothing seems happen....is it normal ??

After that I go in the modeler and run OctaneExporterMOD.lsc via a hotkey and it tells me "Done"

then i return in lw and hit render, but sorry, the terminator problem is still here when "daylight" is used..... :(

Franck.

PS : may be you can make a little video to show us how it works...just to verify the method with us ?
Même chose... ;)

same here. "prepare current frame" must send objects from layout to modeler no?
Don't works for me. Nothing appening.

galford: as explained to us Face, i'm afraid the 'terminator' effect is due to the octane GI method and not to the LW exporter.

For the LW normal/smooth problem export, i join this picture and a packed scene with objects and image for Global illum. ( done with LIGHTWAVE 10.1 ) and rendered with octane export 0.3 ( fast mode OBJ export-> the 0.4 and the normal mode OBJ export give more problems)...

But is it the case with maya, XSI, etc...??
Can somebody, from other software, answer us ?

What do you think about that Radiance ?

It's work with blender and maya too, and il the same problem, you have to subdivide meshes to obtain perfect result ( i hope RS team will resolve this because it's great to work with low res geometries)...

The terminator problem is nothing I can fix.

After clicking "prepare current frame" you should get a message saying "Done" in layout. Depending on your interface this might be a pop up or just a message in the info bar.

This is indeed what i suspected and is a bug in the lightwave export script.
The exporter does not write out vertex normals properly.

Well, this is not good news for us...I'm a bit lost...who can fixe the terminator problem ?!..
The terminator problem is the ONLY problem I have with Octane, but it's very frustrating because I can't use low, even middle, poly characters mesh like I did usually on lightwave, messiah, maxwell, etc....

Could we have a clear answer from someone here ? :(

The terminator effect is render dependent.
See the image from Jafray: http://www.yafaray.org/sites/default/fi ... inator.png
Octane: http://refractivesoftware.com/forum/dow ... &mode=view

Wrong user normals are normals who don´t blend together.
Say you have a sphere, export they to Octane and they show ever facet. No matter if you have select the smooth option in Octane or not.

Thanks for your answer !
So this is a problem for the RS team, this can't be resolved by the exporter.

Radiance, can you tell us what is the plan ?

Hi everyone,
Did you try the scene 'ive posted ?
On my side, the new exporter ( apparently functionning only with the 0.4 plugin... ) doesn't render correctly.
Holocube, could you please prepare a simplier interface: i'm very confused with this one.
Thanks

(Both of them are not functionning...)
could you try adding them both in layout using "Add Plugins"
