i see... in that case you do need 3rd gpu :(
desktop - win7 64bit, i5-4690, 12gb ddr3, 970gtx 4gb, 460gtx 2gb
laptop - win7 64bit, i7-2630qm, 10gb ddr3, 550m 2gb

I suppose I could drive one from the motherboard and the other from one of the GPUs. I am not sure how performance will be affected by this. I tend to do some modelling whilst a render bakes. It is something I will just have to weigh up when I am working out the costings.
