Not sure if this idea had been posted. Is it possible to implement a camera flash option for the camera imager like a single toggle option like tick and untick for camera flash. Would it be possible and easy to add in.
... what would a "camera flash" do then?MaTtY631990 wrote:Not sure if this idea had been posted. Is it possible to implement a camera flash option for the camera imager like a single toggle option like tick and untick for camera flash. Would it be possible and easy to add in.

Radiance already played (showed actual render) with this option some time ago. It looked neat, but you could probably emulate it with an emitter positioned right behind the camera.

and somebody did an emulation like that, in the gallery or wip section.. parts really look good
flash in real life usually looks worse than using diffuse/ambient lighting - but this is something everyone can perceive as a real photo - since a lot of people have seen bad photos taken by automatic cameras with basic flashes, which would lead you to believe its a real photo..
it would be nice to add the option so when you walk around the scene the flash follows you, for experimentation or quick renders, 3d packages usually do have that light behind the camera set up by default...

yeah I had forgotten about the flash radiance showed...
we need to remind him
perhaps now that we have a fairly stable 2.52 they can do some of the little things that are nice to have...
I remember for Indigo we used a small cube with the front knocked out for the surround, and the back as an emitter facing forward.
worked well.
I think I suggested a dual or even ring flash at one time...ah dreams..

IMHO a flash would be a gimmick - it's too fast and easy to just put a small brick with one side emitting above the camera.
But thinking about navigation with a flash attached to the camera reminded that there's no way to actually move the lights in octane. It's logical for natural lighting scenes, but reloading Octane to move studio lights around destroys any use of interactivity. It'd be great to be able to mix OBJs so one being lighting could be moved.
..it'll destroy voxelizing I guess.. but re-voxelization still would be faster than full reload.
