CUDA 4 without graphic update?

I have performance issues in 3dsmax with my latest nvidia drivers (win64) but need the CUDA 4.0 for rendering with Octane on the same way.
I would like to downgrade grahpic drivers but install CUDA 4.0.

Is it possible? And what do I need? The SDK?

Although the latest driver is always recommended, CUDA 4.0 is packaged with any driver newer than 270.81
