Hey guys, I know in the past, Exporting passes hasn't been really all that feasible with pathtracing mode, but I can't remember if Direct Lighting mode is more possible/feasible.
And with this new GI pathtracing mode, it could well, making Directlighting a very powerful part of your renderer, will exporting passes now be possible or is direct lighting still going to be too difficult/not feasible to make passes available?
Been loving octane for a while now, and really happy for your guys success. I hope it can make you guys filthy stinking rich, you deserve to get back your investment of time and money on this software.
will new GI Direct Lighting allow for pass exports?

Hi,
Filthy and stinking is no problem, it's the rich part that's a tough one...
The issue is that passes requires a lot of changes to film and GPU storage,
and it's not something we currently had high priorities for, given the fact that such features like instancing etc are planned next,
maybe in the near future.

Wow. Instancing will be ill, that's one thing which will be explosive for your platform, seriously. Can't wait to be able to go out to 32bit source, too. Pass control and it's exercise will be nice when we have that range from quality without banding, a better alpha channel/edge matte, and color fidelity for conforming images into a composite. I read that the 2.5 release will have a 32bit out. Are you going with .exr? Tiff? TGA? Also will the color bit depth be higher than 8bits? 12bit or 4:4:4 color would be very bad ass and welcome.
BTW-Thanks for all of the really hard work you guys have done to make this software and the experience better, at every step. 1.024 2.49 is really responsive and I am liking it. Good on ya!

When you say instancing, are you talking about instancing of the software so that you can run several copies of Octane simultaneously?

No, he's talking about loading huge scenes into Octane like grass , using instances of mesh's.Like they do in 3D progs.DayVids wrote:HA! - if you're rich enough.... you won't have tottaberna wrote:radiance wrote:Hi,
