Octane keeps popping up every 10 sec's or so to render a new frame and takes the focus away from other work I am doing in the foreground.

Other than that it's working really well.
It is not MaxOctaner problem.:(
My wife already posted that bug in a 2.49 thread. That is: the "-q" ("quiet") command line switch (and MaxOctaner uses that switch) not works as stated ("no splash and minimized window" in Octane manual) - it only gives "no splash", but window is NOT minimized...
Hope RS team will fix it... And all will be OK.:)

Hey,

I'm encountering a weird problem :

I created my scene on MAX, then opened your MaxOctaner, and edited it on the still image button. Saved the Octane ocs file and linked it to the project path.
When I click "open project" it works like a charm, but when I click render animation it creates an new *_anim file who doesn't take the settings of the file project name / path file. Am I doing something wrong?

I hope I'll manage to use it one day, the "Asynchronous mode" sounds awesome!
Thanks a lot for your work!

Yes, you are "doing something wrong".:)
Read please carefully the first post of this thread - I tried, as far as my knowledge of English allows, to describe all in detail. There is described, that render still images and render animation - are a two distinct mechanizms in the plugin. And you will have two different render-projects (.ocs files) with the same name for animation and for still image ("with the same name" is "by convention", but in real it will be "<render-project name>.ocs" and "<render-project name>_anim.ocs").
And if you want to edit the first frame of animation sequence - for that exist a special checkbox "Edit first frame". No need to make the things so complicated as you did. Just tune all needed preferences of render in MaxOctaner, choose needed sequence of frames, check "Edit first frame" and start to render. Octane will start with no autoclosing on the first frame, you edit it, save Octane-project, wait before it renders frame to neened number of "s/px", then just close Octane - and voila: immediately will be opened new Octane window and it will render (with autoclosing) second frame, then third frame, etc...;)

If you don't want to redo some work already done - just copy created file <render-project name>.ocs from the "Renders" folder of Max-project - to "Renders/Animation/<render-project name>_anim.ocs" and start to render animation from MaxOctaner.

can you help me?, the other scene is ok, only this file that stuck like the picture

By the way: it is a good question to all.
Is there a need to separate these things? Or it must be ONLY ONE render-project for still and for animation? Other words: can occur at least one case where some of you will need to separate it, or ABSOLUTELY NO?
Gathering the opinions... :?:

I think that is some with .obj export-settings, or scene problem, or Max glitches... Try to export it "manually", from "File" menu, not from MaxOctaner (just to check) - I think you will get the same result...
Try to set "Ask export parameters" in MaxOctaner before render, and inspect all export parameters... This is the 3ds Max problem or scene problem IMHO, so 3D-experts from this forum can give you a better advice than me.))

Well, if nobody answers about "to have or not to have distinct still and animation render-projects?", I thought a bit, and found my mind about this.
I think that animation of material change from frame to frame - it is animation too... And in some cases, you have to set different materials to the same object in different frames. E.g. if I have to animate chameleon that changes its skin color in 1 second - I need to set to all 25 frames different .ocs files with different materials on chameleons skin... And I will need to edit all these frames manually in Octane, and only then start animation of entire sequence...
So, plugin must not only store different render-projects (.ocs files) for still render and for animation render, it even must to have an ability to store different render-projects to different frames of animation... And animation render process must decide: if for current frame it is no special .ocs file - then get an .ocs from a nearest previous frame.
Will add this algorithm in one of next versions...
