Since the 2.47 version, I have some trouble to turn around the model. It is not as fluid as before. Is it normal ?

Maybee you mean the update time. This has increased (longer time) while increasing the performance.
There is no performens difference by rendering a scene in 2.47 and 2.49 in the test I did.
2.49 has a camera bug while the material picker is enabled. A workaround is to disable the material picker when moving the camera around in the scene. But there is still lag.

I am having similar issues. Also I can not get material list by right clicking anymore?
