The file called default.ocs, i made a copy and delete the file.
Octane start without problems.
My orginal file is 72 kb big, after save a simple mesh as default it rises 126 kb.
It is in the your homefolder/Refractive Software

Cheers, mib.

Unfortunately there is no default.ocs. I used the command "find -name *.ocs, but the ocs where only from blender produced, not from octane.
Strange: no default.ocs, "save as default" does not work, now octane is not able to start, no log file nor trace was produced from octane but in windows xp it works. Unfortunately i have only 4GB in xp, therefore i need octane in ubuntu 64bit. What could we do? Other linux users don't have this problem. Could it be the graphic card? (is described in my signature). But i don't think so.

Try "updatedb" and then "locate default.ocs" to find the file.
I have the same Card and it works...

Hey, thanks. Now i found the defaults.ocs. Now i have symptoms as follows:

1. If i remove defaults.ocs and i start octane then the gui is ok. If i start octane from blender by using addon 1.10, then gui is again wrong.
2. If i select "save as default" then a defaults.ocs is created. I i close octane and start it again, then the gui is again wrong. If i delete again the defaults.ocs, then gui is ok after restart octane.
2. The cube is still wrong. I remember me that i made a test cube like this in the past. Therefore i removed all ocs, obj and mtl files to ensure, that octane don't take an old one. But the cube is still wrong. Where could be saved a wrong cube otherwise?
3. If you start octane from blender by using addon 1.10 and close it by closing the window and not by using file/exit, then a zombie process of octane is still there. This error is reproductive.
4. If i create a sphere or icosphere, then octane will crash.
5. If i create a plane, then octane will render it.
6. If i try to render the spaceship example, then the spaceships are not rendered. Octane renders only the plane where the spaceships should be on.
7. If i try to save a scene then i cannot enter the scene name: there is no field to enter the name. Therefore i have to select an existing ocs file to overwrite it. There is no other way to save the scene. Is that an known problem? Perhaps this could be a hint of the general problem.

At the moment i cannot find the golden thread of the problem. It works on xp therefore the graphic card should not be the problem.

Has somebody an idea or hint?

Greatings,

Stephan.

Yesterday I've seen in that parameter (PMC kernel) some like 2048, and now I see that.

Octane crashes after try to render a sphere. Gdb backtrace is as follows:

In the past i installed the intel compiler. Could it be that this has changed some libraries?
